Classes are held Saturday mornings during the regular school year at the center. One does not need to be member to register.
Our children’s folk dance group is for children 3 to 13 years of age who are interested in folkdance, songs and German culture. The group meets twice a month on Friday evenings from 7 to 8:30 pm. The group performs at fundraising events and also at various community events in the area. We also offer fun social events for the entire family, such as bowling, swimming and roller skating parties.
The children are also involved in community service, by visiting area nursing homes and supporting the Des Plaines Self Help Closet and Food Pantry. An annual toy collection is organized for the needs of the community.
The youth group program has existed since 1953 and has provided high school age young people stability and socializing opportunities. Thousands of young people have been kept on the right track of life with their commitment to participate and serve in the community and Society events. They have learned to get along by being host and guest in ongoing youth exchange programs at the national and international level.
This group has proven themselves to be the heart and soul and driving force in all charitable events. They support the events with cooking at fund raisers and senior program services.
Retired persons have a chance to enjoy a delicious meal and see films or play cards. This group meets every Wednesday of the month at the center and is open to the public. There is a charge for the lunch.
